Grieving gran left suicidal after wrongly told she must repay £19k Universal Credit debt

A grandmother has described how she made an attempt on her own life after the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) wrongly demanded almost £20,000 from her.

Despite being classed as long-term sick due to her severe memory loss and depression, Christina Goss was told that she was not entitled to claim benefits.

The 62-year-old was deemed to have "limited capacity for work-related activities" and made a successful application for Government help in January 2020.
