The greyhound and the whippet look so similar that it's only their height and weight that make it easy to distinguish between the two. And it's not surprising they look so alike, as the whippet is actually a direct descendant of the ancient greyhound, which technically makes them family.
While the greyhound is the larger and faster of the two, the whippet is certainly no slouch in the energy department. Both breeds were built for speed rather than endurance, and made our list of the fastest dog breeds.
