Gretna Burger King and Starbucks openings will create 45 jobs

New outlets at Gretna’s Caledonia Park retail village will create 45 jobs.

Burger King has just opened its doors and Starbucks is coming soon to the complex previously know as Gretna Gateway.

They follow the opening of Cornish Bakery, joining the likes of Nike, Adidas, Boss, Polo Ralph Lauren, Lindt, Marks and Spencer and more on site.

Scott Wells, centre director at Caledonia Park, said: “Welcoming two multi-national brands to Caledonia Park marks a key moment for the destination.

“Starbucks and Burger King will be strong additions to our culinary line-up.

“The evolution of our food and drink offering has been at the forefront of our strategy post Caledonia Park’s refurbishment, and we’re pleased to see this now coming to fruition.”

Burger King, which currently opens 10am to 6pm, but has “plans to extend to later”, has created 30 new jobs including five managerial roles, with the rest spanning both front of house and kitchen roles.

Jeremy Wright, people director of Burger King UK, said: “During what has been a very challenging few years for many businesses, we are delighted to be creating new job and career opportunities in the area, and look forward to welcoming 30 new starters into the Burger King family, at our new Gretna restaurant.

“We continue to be bold and ambitious in our growth plans across both locations and job opportunities.”

To celebrate its opening, Burger King is giving away 1,000 free Whoppers to customers to the new restaurant tomorrow.

Customers first need to go online at: https://burgerkinguk.app.link/gretna-free-whopper to retrieve a code to staff at the counter to claim their freebie.

The company’s chief executive, Alasdair Murdoch, added: “We know the people of Gretna love the great-tasting food of Burger King, so we’ve listened to their requests and are very excited to bring all their favourites to their neighbourhood. Our home – of the Whopper – is their home.”

Starbucks will create 15 new jobs when it opens its coffee shop adjacent to Pizza Express and Next.

Gordon Campbell, director of operations at OCO, the Glasgow-based Starbucks licence partners, said: “We’re really delighted to be bringing a new Starbucks to Caledonia Park.

“We are looking forward to welcoming customers.”
