Greg Taylor Rangers clash addressed as Ange Postecoglou says Celtic character key to Ross County win

Greg Taylor is set to be fit to face Rangers next weekend in the showdown that could effectively end the title race once and for all.

The fullback who has become a key player for Ange Postecoglou limped off in Dingwall as Celtic struggled to see off Ross County to retain their nine-point lead in the Premiership ahead of the third Old Firm league clash of the season.

However, it is expected that he will be OK to take on Rangers with Celtic seeking to end the title race for good by beating their rivals for the third time, having won 4-0 at Parkhead earlier in the campaign and 2-1 in the Viaplay Cup Final, to extend their lead to 12 with only seven games to go.

Celtic were missing Aaron Mooy, Reo Hatate, Liel Abada and James Forrest in the Dingwall win but Postecoglou says Taylor should be OK. He said: “He had a dead leg which hampered him,” he said. “But it’s nothing that’s going to keep him out I wouldn’t think.”

On the match he said: "We knew it was going to be a tough day today with the conditions and the way they play, they make it awfully hard to get a foothold in the game - obviously with the pitch the way it is.

"We were probably a little wasteful in the front third to put the game away, but the lads showed a strong mentality to keep them away from our goal and it's a good three points.

"We've had to show we can win in different ways, it's not the first time. There's no doubting our character, we've been doing it for a very long time. No matter the challenge they will be at it.

"It's good to get a goal at any time, we were threatening before then. We hit the post and had a couple of good chances, their goalkeeper made a couple of good saves.

"To be honest, I was in the dressing room when they said it was a penalty - I checked to see who got it as I wasn't really sure!"

He also praised Japanese midfielder Tomoki Iwata for his performance in his first start since joining in January.

“He was great,” said the manager. “He was the one who looked most sure-footed in terms of the pitch and the handling of the ball. He really helped us considering it was his first 90 minutes after three months.”
