Greg Norman claims a number of surprise stars are waiting in the wings to join up with LIV Golf.
The controversial new tour has been at loggerheads with the PGA ever since tempting some of the established tours' big names after throwing cash at them to make the switch. A rivalry has developed between players as well. Masters champion John Rahm has made his feelings clear while Rory McIlroy is another who hasn’t exactly hidden his opposition to the Saudi backed series. Suspensions have been handed out to rebel players that made the move to LIV initially.
But chief and twice Open champion Norman has claimed more PGA big guns are willing to sign up with him, but are just waiting on their contracts running out before jumping ship as he vows to never stand still in LIV’s attempts to grow. "We will continually keep going forwards,” he told the Telegraph.
“I have a list of players who want to join – names that will honestly surprise you – but there are contracts that have to be honoured and we will do this responsibly. We have relegation and promotion in place and it's all going to plan. I think we'll soon have world ranking points at our events, because otherwise those rankings become obsolete.
"They've already suffered immensely from us being shut out... There's no doubt they're trying to do everything in their power to shut us down. It's not going to happen. The quicker they acknowledge that, the quicker they just come to make the internal decision within themselves."
On the bad blood between LIV and the PGA, Norman has called for a peace summit in a bid to finally move on "Yeah, maybe we should sit down and talk. It's going to happen somehow and somewhere down the line. And why shouldn't it be sooner rather than later? They must realise by now that we aren't going away."
