Green turf in Antwerp raises eyebrows ahead of Olympics

Olympics Belgium FIH India Hockey

KOLKATA: The Indian men’s hockey team came back strongly against Belgium on Saturday after losing 1-4 to the same opponents on Thursday in FIH Pro League. It was one of their most disappointing shows under coach Craig Fulton and it happened with the Paris Olympics just about two months away. However, on Saturday they held Belgium to a 2-2 draw before going down in the shoot-outs.

But the team’s performance wasn’t the only cause for concern. It has been quite uncanny to see them play on a green turf at Wilrijkse Plein Antwerp, the venue for the Pro League mini tournament in Belgium.
