League of Ireland players will be able to appeal red cards next season.
And Mirror Sport understands the FAI will give the measure the official green light next week.
Up to now, players and clubs could only appeal a sending off in the case of mistaken identity.

But meetings with referees and other stakeholders have been taking place in recent weeks to address the matter for the 2023 season.
Derry City midfielder Sadou Diallo was a high profile absentee from the FAI Cup final with Shelbourne after a red card against Dundalk in the final league game of the season.
The Englishman had no avenue to appeal and Shels boss Damien Duff slammed the “ridiculous rule” that denied his opponents one of their key men.
A change to the process has been on the cards, but issues had to be ironed out - most notably around the footage used during any future appeals process.
LOI TV footage of red card incidents will be used as evidence.
It is unclear if a club’s own footage of an incident will be permitted, but it has not been ruled out as yet.
Red card decisions are to be reviewed at the end of each game week, but clubs will have to fork out €500 for each appeal.
