Greek police were handed CCTV footage of Dr Michael Mosley’s last movements days before he was found dead, local media has reported.
Video footage near where the BBC presenter was found show the 67-year-old making his way down rocky ground on the Greek island of Symi.
The footage was reportedly given to police on Wednesday night or Thursday, shortly after the TV doctor was reported missing, Live News reports.
Grainy CCTV footage also appeared to show Dr Mosley as he stumbles and falls, however police reportedly said it was not easy to identify him as he appears like a dot.
According to Live News, the footage from the cameras was handed over to police on Wednesday night or Thursday.
It comes as fresh CCTV of Dr Mosley’s tragic hike was released on Tuesday. The footage showed Dr Mosley, 67, holding his distinctive purple umbrella to protect him from the sun as he walks past a house with a tarpaulin covered speedboat in the drive.
The footage is said to show Mr Mosley at 2pm as he headed for the trail that leads towards Agia Marina around a mile and a half away, where he died at around 4pm.
Police said Dr Mosley died of “heat exhaustion” after “sitting down and losing consciousness” near a holiday resort.
Temperatures had almost reached 40C at the time of Mr Mosley’s death and it is believed that he may have sat down to gather himself after being overcome with exhaustion, according to MailOnline.
Initially it was believed Dr Mosley may have suffered a heavy fall while he was hiking on the Greek island.
CCTV footage appeared to show Dr Mosley falling over close to where his body was found as his widow said he “very nearly made it” to safety.
Dr Clare Bailey Mosley confirmed a body discovered on Sunday morning in a rocky area was that of her husband, describing the loss as “devastating”.
His body was discovered just 100 metres from the Agia Marina resort.
The doctor, who went missing after leaving his wife and friends at Agios Nikolaos beach on Wednesday, appeared to have undertaken an “incredible climb, took the wrong route and collapsed where he couldn’t be easily seen” by emergency search teams.
