Greater Manchester weather: When thunderstorms are set to hit today

Thunderstorms will hit Greater Manchester later today, the Met Office has warned.

A yellow weather warning has been issued for the region and other parts of the UK. Meteorologists have said people should expect "sudden flooding" which could cause difficult driving conditions and "some road closures".

Forecasters are also warning of potential delays or cancellations to public transport services. According to the Met Office, thunderstorms will hit Greater Manchester at about 5pm today and last until about 10pm. Despite the rainy conditions predicted throughout the evening, people can still expect temperatures of about 20C.
