Greater Manchester weather forecast: a miserable week ahead - but a dry Easter weekend

Following a mainly dry and sunny weekend, the weather is set to turn miserable again this week in Greater Manchester. Some long, heavy rain showers forecast, conditions should remain dry and become warm in time for the long Easter bank holiday weekend.

According to the Met Office, the week will kick off with a 'mostly dry morning on Monday,' with some bright or sunny spells. But there will be an increasing risk of showery rain throughout the afternoon, which will become heavy at times.

So don't let the bright start fool you and remember to pack your umbrella. The weather will become fairly warm with a maximum temperature of around 15C by Monday afternoon, but it will also be gusty thanks to some southeasterly winds.

As the week progresses, the outlook will be 'changeable,' with a mixture of sunny spells but also showers - and some longer spells of rain at time. Thursday will likely start out with 'mostly dry weather' and 'light winds' but will become rather cloudy.

Showers are forecast to develop and some rain may spread into the far west as the day goes on. From Good Friday, the Met Office reports a northwest-southeast split of weather is likely to form, with the northwest remaining more changeable with strong winds and rain at times.

Temperatures are expected to be above average, and warm at times for the south. Easter Saturday could see an overcast start, lending itself to a cloudy day with temperatures reaching 16C in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, according to Weather.com, Easter Sunday is forecast to remain dry and partly cloudy, with highs of 17C. And keep an eye out for the full moon, which will be making an appearance on both Saturday and Sunday night.
