The property market in Greater Manchester has been booming for quite some time now, with high demand and low stock of homes pushing house prices to an all-time high.
Most properties that come onto the market have multiple buyers battling against one another, and in some of the region's hotspot areas, homes are being snapped up within a matter of days.
As such it comes as a surprise that some homes in Greater Manchester are having a hard time finding buyers, with a handful of properties that are still on the market many years after being listed.

It is unknown whether these homes have had little to no interest at all, whether the sellers just aren't happy with the offers that have been put in, or if deals have fallen through - but they have all been on sale for quite some time. Here is list of some of the homes across the region that have been up for sale on Rightmove for up to eight years.
Apple Blossom Grove, Cadishead
This two-bed apartment is the longest-standing home on the Greater Manchester property market, having been listed for sale back in October 2014 - almost eight years. The listing shows no photos from inside the apartment, which may account for its lack of interest.
The basic description reads: "The apartment is situated on the 2nd floor. The property is located centrally of Cadishead town centre. The property is set in a popular and well established district close to all local amenities including shops and schools, and within 5 minutes of M62/Trafford Centre."
Barnes Village, Cheadle
Having been on the market since April 2017, it is unknown why this four-bedroom family home in Cheadle can't find a buyer. The listing, where the home is priced at £415,000, says the home has an entrance hall, kitchen dining room with patio doors leading to the rear garden, a lounge, four bedrooms and two bathrooms.
Estate agents describe it as follows: "Barnes Village is a contemporary restoration of this magnificent Grade II listed building, amongst a collection of luxurious and elegant family homes. The Victoria is a three-storey four bedroom townhouse, with front and rear gardens and garage."
Mather Road, Walmersley
Greater Manchester isn't short of affluent residents who can afford to buy million-pound homes, but for one reason or another this £1,200,000 home was put on the market in June 2018 and has been stuck there ever since.
The four-bed detached home in Walmersley, Bury, is described by estate agents as "one of the area's most prominent homes", dating back to 1926.
The property was originally constructed as a mill owner's house, but, back in 2018, the current owners had just completed a huge renovation on it, transforming the four bedrooms, two bathrooms and kitchen with lovely modern interior.
To the outside the home sits on an acre of land, with gardens which have been designed by a prominent landscape architect, as well as a stone patio area, two sheds and a garage complex.
Springside Road, Bury
This apartment in Bury has been on the market since April 2019 and has been unable to find a buyer. Described by estate agents as a 'very unusual opportunity', the first-floor flat was formed from part of an original coach house and stables for the neighbouring property.
Built in 1768 and with Grade II listed status, the home Lee Court is of 'significant historical interest'. Back in 2019 the apartment underwent a renovation programme and now comprises a ground floor entrance hall with stairs to an open plan kitchen and dining room, lounge, two bedrooms and three piece shower room.
Despite being listed as 'appealing to a wide group of people', the £200,000 flat still remains on the market today.
Valletts Lane, Bolton
Having been added to the market back in October 2019, this six-bed cottage in Bolton is yet to attract a buyer. Boasting a large plot of land, six bedrooms and spacious living areas, you would think this property would have been bought by now.
Inside the cottage boasts two reception rooms, a large dining kitchen, a games room, cloakroom and conservatory, and to the first floor are six bedrooms. There is also a spacious family bathroom and an en-suite to two of the bedrooms.
On the listing, which advertises its price at £625,000, estate agents say: "One cannot fail to be impressed by this spacious attractive property, maintained to a very high standard internally and externally."
Symons Street, Salford
Terraced houses regularly get snapped up in Salford, therefore it is surprising that this three-bed family home is still for sale. Listed as an 'ideal family home', the mid terrace was put on the market for £220,000 in November 2019, but still hasn't found a buyer.
Pictures show the home requires a bit of modernising, however this usually isn't an off-putting factor as most buyers are happy to take on a renovation project for a good price.
The home has a lot of potential with a kitchen, two reception rooms, three bedrooms and two bathrooms, with each room being fairly spacious. It also benefits from having no onward chain.
Kenyon Lane, Lowton
Most people with money would snap up a property that boasts a huge garden and luxury amenities like a swimming pool and tennis court, so it is a wonder why this five-bed home in Wigan is still up for sale.
The huge detached home was put on the market in February 2020, and although its price is unknown, it boasts extensive gardens, an outdoor heated swimming pool, tennis courts, gym, five bedrooms and several outbuildings.
Estate agents say the home is situated on one of Lowton's 'most desirable roads,' within a semi rural location surrounded by farmland and open aspect views, begging the question why it is yet to find a buyer.
