Greater Manchester's cheapest house is on the market for just £20,000

With house prices continuing to rise across the UK, you may think that finding a cheap home is highly unlikely. But thankfully there are certain boroughs in Greater Manchester where you can still snap up a bargain.

If you are a property developer, investor, or are just looking for a renovation project, this semi-detached house in Lees, Oldham is currently the cheapest home on the market across the region.

With a guide price of just £20,000, the property is much more affordable than the average house price in the area, which was £186,400 over the last year. But as with most things that come cheap, the house isn't perfect and it will need a bit of TLC before it can become habitable.

Found in Lychgate Court, the house is currently in a run-down state and is classed as a doer-upper home.

These types of properties are usually ideal for those who want to fix up a house and sell it on to make a profit, but it could also make a great project for a first-time buyer.

Listed for sale on Zoopla on May 3, the house last sold back in 1997 for £16,950 - so its guide price today isn't far off.

The property will be sold at an online auction which means that, according to Zoopla, the 'guide price' is an indication of the seller’s minimum acceptable price at auction.

Inside there is a living room and kitchen on the ground floor, with two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. Outside there is a driveway, a front garden and also a garden at the back.

The house is currently vacant and completion will take around six weeks or earlier.

Situated off Near Birches Parade, it sits close to local shopping and is a short drive from the amenities in Oldham town centre.

It is also less than half a mile away from St Hugh's CofE Primary School and St Agnes CofE Primary School.

The property will be sold via an online auction as lot 130 on Tuesday, May 23.
