Greater Manchester bank holiday weather forecast with rain showers on the way

May is a bumper month for bank holidays, with three Mondays off to enjoy instead of the usual two.

The first three-day weekend is almost here, with the early May bank holiday on Monday May 1. Unfortunately the weather forecast isn't looking too promising for Greater Manchester, with showers scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

The start of the week saw below-average temperatures for the the time of year. But conditions have become more mild, with temperatures reaching the mid-teens this weekend.

Here is what the Met Office is forecasting for our region this weekend. Starting off dry but cloudy, Mancunians can expect to wake up to double figure temperatures of 10C on Saturday.

It's worth making the most of the morning, as a spell of light rain will fall between 3pm and 7pm. The rest of the night is to remain dry but still cloudy, with temperatures peaking at 16C.

Much of the same can be expected on Sunday. The sky will be grey and overcast all morning, with light rain falling from 1pm.

This will turn heavy from 4pm, clearing up at around 8pm. It will be ever so slightly cooler, with temperatures reaching 15C.

While it may not be very bright, bank holiday Monday will remain dry. Overcast conditions are forecast first thing, but this will ease to cloudy skies by 10am.

Temperatures will again peak at 15C. The sun will be making a late appearance, with some sunny intervals forecast at 7pm. The rest of the night will be partly cloudy, which will lead into Tuesday morning.

The pollen count will be medium on Saturday and Sunday, increasing to high on Monday - so if you suffer from hay fever, it's worth being aware.

As summer draws closer, the sun will be setting later into the evening. On Monday, it will set at approximately 8.34pm - meaning you really can make the most of the bank holiday.
