The Great North Run will be back with its traditional route this year following the alterations made to the course last year.
Due to Coronavirus concerns, the half-marathon started and ended in Newcastle last year. But the trademark Great North Run course returns for the 2023 event.
Great North Runners will start the half marathon on Newcastle's Central motorway, before running just under two miles through Newcastle, over the Tyne Bridge, into Gateshead, towards Heworth and through South Tyneside all the way to the coast at South Shields. The route runs for a total of 13.1 miles, ending with a stretch along the seafront in South Shields.
