Bread Week on The Great British Bake Off is stressful enough, with dough pro Paul Hollywood casting judgement.
But in this week's episode temperatures rise in the tent before any ovens are even switched on as two contestants have to sit out a week due to illness. It means the remaining bakers have even more chance of getting the chop.
Making light of the unprecedented situation, Matt Lucas tells the remaining contestants: “Both Rebs and Abdul are a bit under the weather this week, but with your permission, we thought we’d send them both straight through to the final.”
Noel Fielding adds: “Only joking, they’re going to miss a week and hopefully they’ll be back next week.”
In fairness, it’s Rebs and Abdul who are worst hit, as the contestants make delicious sharing-size pizzas in one of the challenges.
At least there was plenty to go around for everyone else.
The Great British Bake Off is on Tuesdays on Channel 4 at 8pm.
