Great British Bake Off fans amused by cheeky bake with 'unfortunate' shape

In every season of Great British Bake Off there seems to be a rather rudely shaped cake, and the tradition continued as the show returned on Tuesday evening.

Viewers were amused as part of Syabira showstopper resembled a male appendage, as she assured host Matt Lucas: "It isn't what you think it is."

The contestants were tasked by judges Dame Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood to create a home that was special for them, for the final challenge of the week.

32-year-old Syabira set about making a coconut tree to accompany her bake, which had a long and thin shape.

Matt Lucas, approaching the amateur baker, remarked: "Wow", with the Londoner replying: "It isn't what you think it is."

Matt then asked what it was, with Syabira telling him it was a coconut tree.

Fans of the show took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the bake, with one person writing: "There is always something made from something that looks like a penis."

Another said: "SYABIRA THAT SHAPE IS UNFORTUNATE #GBBO."

A third person joked: "I was hoping Syabira would just go 'im putting giant penises outside my house coz Paul can't tell me I'm lying.' #GBBO"

A fourth quipped: "That was definitely not a coconut tree #GBBO."

A fifth said: "Me seeing that coconut tree," finishing the sentence with a shocked face.

No stranger to the working of the human body, Malaysian-born Syabira is a cardiovascular research associate.

She moved to the UK in 2013 to study for her PhD and is now happily settled in London.

Syabira started baking just five years ago, the first thing she made being a red velvet cake.

Elsewhere on the show, viewers swooned over contestant Sandro, with many taking to Twitter to share their admiration of the 30-year-old fitness fanatic and nanny.

One person wrote: “Been 10 minutes and I’m already in love with sandro #gbbo.”

Another said: "Bit behind but we're all in love with Sandro right? #GBBO "

A third wrote: "Did he say he’s a Nanny?? I’ve never been more broody in my life!!! #sandro #GBBO."

Referring to Sandro's profession, one Twitter user said: "Calling it: I’m team Sandro. He makes incredible looking cakes *and* is qualified to entertain my toddler. #GBBO "

Although viewers were impressed with Sandro, Paul told the fitness fanatic that his showstopper looked simplistic, and there was too much alcohol in it.

Sandro was born in Angola, but fled the Angolan war with his mum when he was two, settling in London.

When Sandro was 21, his father passed away and he turned to baking as a form of therapy. Now, he lives and breathes it and even runs virtual baking classes for children with autism.

34-year-old Janusz was handed star baker after Prue and Paul were left in awe by his showstopper, and Will was the first contestant to leave the tent.

Next week sees the amateur bakers put their biscuit making skills to the test.
