Great Britain win first Winter Paralympics medal

  • Neil Simpson secured Great Britain's first medal at the Winter Paralympics, winning silver in the men’s alpine combined event.
  • Guided by Rob Poth, Simpson delivered a strong slalom run, which propelled him into a medal position after narrowly missing the podium in previous races.
  • Italy’s Giacomo Bertagnolli ultimately claimed the gold medal, finishing 0.65 seconds ahead of Simpson in front of a home crowd.
  • This silver medal marks Simpson's third Paralympic medal, adding to a gold and bronze won in Beijing four years ago.
  • Elsewhere, Britain's Menna Fitzpatrick finished ninth in the women’s combined VI event, and the mixed wheelchair curling team suffered a defeat against hosts Italy.
