Grease star and singer Olivia Newton-John dies aged 73

Grease star Olivia Newton-John has died aged 73.

The singer and acter’s husband John Easterling confirmed the news on Monday.

Olivia died peacefully at her ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends.

She had been battling breast cancer for more than 30 years.

Oliva shot to stardom in 1971 with hit songs such as "If Not for You," and "Let Me Be There” in 1973.

She will be remembered by most for her role as Sandy in Grease when she starred opposite John Travolta.

The movie shot the young actor to new heights, and she followed it up with movies such as "Xanadu."

Olivia's biggest hit was "Physical" in 1981, which stayed at #1 for 10 weeks, breaking all records in the '80's.

She remained an environmental and animal rights activist throughout her career.

Oliva was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992 and after treatment the cancer went into remission.

Sadly it returned in 2013 before going back into remission before resurfacing again in 2017.

Olivia, who was British but raised in Australia, married Matt Lattanzi back in 1984 and had a daughter together Chloe Rose in 1986.

They later divorced in 1995.

She then married the founder of Amazon Herb Co. John Easterling in 2008.
