Grant Williams reacts to ejection against Golden State

It was a tough night all the way around for the Boston Celtics as they got crushed by the defending champion Golden State Warriors in the Bay Area. After a harsh onslaught from 3-point range in the second half of the game for the Warriors, it turned into a rough night.

To add insult to injury, Grant Williams got ejected from the game after Head coach Joe Mazzulla called a timeout to take his starters off. Williams punched the ball into the stands and was ejected just moments later. The NBA has cracked down on players throwing any object into the stands potentially hurting fans in the process so the referee’s response was justified.

Williams was asked about it afterward and his response was a positive one, per MassLive’s Souichi Terada. “I have to be better in a sense of being more mature and understanding that your emotion is as good as what you base yourself growing as a player.”

He continued, “It’s just a matter of channeling that and using it in a better direction and directing that towards your teammates and making sure everyone is engaged and motivated”.

These are the sort of words Boston Celtics fans are desperate to hear. Williams is not only going to be crucial towards the Celtics’ success this season but he also is going to be critical towards competing for a championship.

The window is still wide open for this improved Boston squad and they were reminded how difficult it is to beat the Warriors at any time in San Francisco.
