Grant Williams Completely Botched a Dunk Attempt on a 14-Year-Old and NBA Fans Had Jokes

As a player known for his hijinks as much as his game, Mavericks forward Grant Williams has a knack for making people laugh when they least expect it.

Unfortunately for Williams, however, his latest viral moment came courtesy of an awkwardly hilarious moment at his inaugural basketball camp at West Charlotte High School in Charlotte, N.C.

Standing at 6-foot-6 and 236 pounds, Williams, a Houston native who grew up in Charlotte, has presented more than a few players with a challenge in the post. But, on Saturday, Williams seemed to be in a bit over his head as he attempted to dunk on a 14-year-old camper attending his camp.

Just in case that sentence sounded bizarre, the video of the moment made it all the more hilarious as Williams can be seen posting the young man up before whiffing on a one-hand dunk just below the rim.

While Williams, who starred at local Providence Day School before a standout career at Tennessee, can reasonably be excused for not wanting to potentially embarrass a kid, the internet wasn’t quite so forgiving.

As the short clip went viral, many people, including Williams himself, got it on making fun of the 24-year-old about his limited hang time. Needless to say, the jokes probably made more than a few Mavs fans hope the botched dunk isn’t a precursor of things to come when Williams takes the floor for his first season in Dallas.
