The Grand National is the biggest race in the National Hunt season, with a share of a £1 million prize up for grabs to the winner of the world-famous steeplechase.
Doing so is not an easy task, and there is lots of competition for the crown of Grand National winner. It is rare the favourite takes the title, with the average winner having odds of more than 20/1 pre-race. This was demonstrated last year by Noble Yeats, who won with odds of 50/1 and as a result is among the favourites this time around.
The Emmett Mullins trained defending champion will have a different jockey this year, which is a key factor in winning any race. This appears to have been part of the reason that 2021 winner Rachael Blackmore has been propelled to becoming favourite for the big one at 5:15pm with Ain't That A Shame overtaking Delta Work and Corach Rambler in the past 36 hours in the build-up to the race.
