Grand National 2022: Ladies Day Style Award winner announced at Aintree racecourse

Donna Mulligan was crowned the winner of the Grand National Ladies Day 2022 Style Award at Aintree racecourse today.

Wearing a floor-length red gown with cape sleeves, a matching headdress and a pair of gold heels, Donna was overwhelmed on stage after being announced as the winner this afternoon. Following the announcement, Donna said: "Unbelievable, I can’t believe it". Hundreds of men and women spent the first part of their racing day queuing to get their pictures taken, so their outfits could be assessed by the judging panel.

The award was chosen by Never Fully Dressed founder Lucy Aylen, Jay Hynd, Gemma Cutting and Liverpool-born boxer Natasha Jonas. As the winner, Donna walks away with £5,000 cash, the Ultimate UK Staycation Spa Break with Iconic Luxury Hotels, a £1,000 donation to the winner’s chosen charity, a pair of Garden Club tickets to Ladies Day 2023 and a Randox Health package worth £500.

In addition to these prizes, Never Fully Dressed is giving Donna a £500 voucher. Second place runner up Natalie Koromila will receive £3,000 cash, dinner and drinks for two at The Art School and a pair of Festival Zone tickets to Ladies Day 2023. Natalie is getting married in Santorini in September so will be putting her prize money towards that.

Third place winner Josh Mack will receive £1,000 cash and a pair of Festival Zone tickets to Ladies Day 2023. Previous winners of Aintree's Style Award include Sue Moon, from Euxton, who won it back in 2019. At the time, she said: “Never in a million years [did she expect to win].

"He [her husband] forced me, he said you have to enter it so I thought alright then, go on I will. When I went into the shop because I always go to the same shop, I didn't have anything in my mind when I just went in.

"But she always brings me loads of dresses out and she brought this out and I just thought that's it. It's where the shoes and the bag are from too."
