The Grammy Awards paid tribute to the Foo Fighters ' drummer Taylor Hawkins, following his death last month.
It was announced a few weeks ago that the musician - who'd been a member of the band since 1997 - had passed away at the age of 50, leaving his bandmates "devastated."
The band later cancelled all upcoming tour dates as they continue to the mourn the loss of Taylor, with them also missing a performance at the awards ceremony.
This was addressed by the host Trevor Noah during the show - which was held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas - ahead of a memorial tribute to others.
The comedian revealed to the audience that the band had been scheduled to perform, with him noting that they would have all been celebrating three Grammy Awards.
He however said that they weren't in attendance due to the tragic passing of their "legendary drummer" Taylor, with Trevor introducing a moment to remember him.
A video tribute played shortly after in which photos and footage from Taylor's career was shown, including him discussing what it takes to become a professional drummer.
It included clips of Taylor playing the drums at concerts during his career, with the montage also including a voiceover in which he was described as "the best drummer."
The segment concluded with audio of an audience at concert held by the Foo Fighters singing "there goes my hero" - a lyric from one of their songs - alongside a photo of Taylor.
It led into the Grammy Award's In Memoriam segment, honouring those in the the industry who died over the last year.
The segment featured a medley of songs by composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim - who was among those being paid tribute to, following his death aged 91 in November.
The medley was performed by Ben Platt, Cynthia Erivo, Leslie Odom Jr. and Rachel Zegler - with them ending the segment with 'Somewhere' from West Side Story.
The segment prompted a standing ovation from the audience at the the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, where this year's Grammy Awards were being held.
