The final score for the Grambling State women’s basketball team’s non-conference victory was not a misprint.
The Tigers defeated Division II College of Biblical Studies, 159–18, on Tuesday night, recording the biggest margin of victory in the history of Division I women’s basketball.
College of Biblical Studies did not score its first points of the game until nearly the 2:00 mark of the first quarter and after the Tigers jumped out to a 34–0 lead in the opening stanza. By halftime, following another quarter of pure dominance, GSU led 82–10.
In the second half, the Tigers held CBS to a total of eight points with five coming in the fourth quarter. CBS, a Houston-based program that plays in the southwest region of the National Christian College Athletic Association, converted a mere 8 of 43 shots from the floor and committed 57 turnovers in the contest.
GSU, a member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference, notched a program record in points with Arianna Mosley leading the team with 27, followed by Kahia Warmsley with 20 and Amanda Blake and DeMya Young with 15, respectively.
Prior to Tuesday, the largest margin of victory in a Division I women’s basketball game took place in 2018 when Savannah State defeated Wesleyan (Georgia) 155–26. After the Tigers’ massive victory, college basketball fans had plenty of jokes about the visiting team’s terrible performance.
