Former Arsenal star Ray Parlour has tipped Chelsea boss Graham Potter to become a future England men's national team manager, despite recent struggles at Stamford Bridge. The Blues have managed just two wins in their last 15 Premier League games, building pressure on the head coach.
The west London outfit sit in 10th as a result of their poor form, knocked out of both domestic competitions and 1-0 down after the first leg of their round of 16 clash against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. Potter firmly believes that he and his side can bounce back and avoid the calls for him to be replaced, however.
"I've spoken to them [the board] and it's the same as it's always been," Potter told the media ahead of Chelsea's clash with Tottenham. "There has always been support. I've been under pressure here for four months from you guys. Have you spoken to the owners? Do you have their support? That continues and they've been great, brilliant. They also see where we're at but at the same time are frustrated because the results are what they are and we have to do better."

The change in perception over Potter in just a few months shows just how unpredictable football can be, with the manager being tipped for big things just before joining Chelsea. One of those potential jobs he was linked with was that of the England men's national team, something that Parlour says he could still be in the future.
Speaking to aceodds.com, the former Arsenal star said: "We all know, in football you don’t get long, especially at big clubs like Chelsea. I’m pleased that they’ve come out and said ‘look, we’re going to give him a chance’ because you can’t keep chopping and changing managers as well, who’s available after Potter? That’s the big question.
"People may argue, why did they get rid of [Thomas] Tuchel? We don’t know what happened behind the scenes. But certainly, I hope he gets a bit more of a chance and he can do well. Potentially, he could be the England manager in the future. Who knows?"
It remains to be seen if a job with the Three Lions is on the horizon for Potter, though in the mean time he still has a job to do to turn around his project at Stamford Bridge and get it moving in the right direction again.
