Graham Potter receives major Chelsea injury boost ahead of Crystal Palace Premier League return

Graham Potter is set to have one of his best players back after the international break with a certain midfielder spotted out on the pitch during the early parts of this current International break.

The Blues have had numerous injury complications to contend with so far in 2022/23 with most issues coming in the midfield area. Mateo Kovacic sustained an injury on the pre-season tour of the US and was therefore out for the first few games. Then N'Golo Kante followed after he injured his hamstring late on into the 2-2 London derby draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

Since then, numerous midfield experiments were conducted under the Thomas Tuchel era, with the now former boss adamant he had nothing left after the Southampton loss at St Mary's.

This is despite the German waxing lyrical about £20million summer recruit Carney Chukwuemeka. "A hamstring injury [to Loftus-Cheek], next midfielder out. No one left," Tuchel said back at the time.

Whilst Chukwuemeka has already made his stake to start against Crystal Palace after the international break under new manager Graham Potter amid the two goals netted in a recent friendly, the former Brighton boss, who opted more for experience in his first RB Salzburg game, is expected to do the same in his first Premier League outing as he looks to get his first win on the board.

Therefore, the potential return to fitness of Kante will be a huge boost all round for the west Londoners, who face the tricky task of keeping pace with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham at the top of the current standings.

The trio won their respective games over the weekend, whilst the Blues could only watch on with their fixture against Liverpool postponed due to the state funeral of Her majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

According to the Evening Standard's Nizaar Kinsella, who spoke on a fan podcast, he updated: "N’Golo Kanté was out on the training pitch when I went down [to Cobham] for the Academy game. He was training with the coach and doing some pretty dynamic drills.”
