Graham Potter handed fresh Chelsea sack warning as simple Leeds United gameplan revealed

The term 'must-win' has been used countless times for Chelsea over the last few weeks, but with each passing game, the need for three points becomes more and more evident.

Chelsea's last win – in any competition – came on January 15 as they edged past Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge. The Blues have won just one of their last 11 matches, meaning there is huge pressure on head coach Graham Potter.

Potter is trying to remain confident and upbeat about the situation, though, with the club's owners – as of right now – still supportive of the man they appointed in September. "While results are what they are, I accept it [the pressure]," Potter said after losing to Tottenham at the weekend.

"It's part of the job. We were talking before the game about watching the 'Arsenal: All or Nothing' and two years into Mikel [Arteta's] reign he is close to getting the sack and people want him out. It was seen as a disaster but things have now changed a bit.

"If you look at Jurgen [Klopp's] situation, they haven't got the results and all of a sudden people want him out. That is the nature of football. I haven't done enough at this club to have too much good faith; I also accept that.

"My job isn't to worry about that too much. I understand the question and where it comes from, but I have to try to focus on keeping on helping the team and supporting the players. I really like these players, they're good lads. They want to do better and want to win, but at the moment we're suffering and that is my responsibility."

Chelsea's next two matches really could be defining. The Blues face Leeds United on Saturday afternoon, just a few days before they look to overturn a 1-0 aggregate score at home to Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.

Potter's side are currently 10th in the Premier League table and the chance of getting into this season's top four – something they are now 14 points adrift of – look very slim. So winning the Champions League might be the Blues' best opportunity to get back into the competition next season. If they were to crash out of the tournament at the hands of Dortmund, where would that leave Potter?

First up, though, is Leeds, who are battling for their lives at the bottom of the league. The Whites are currently in 17th, just a single point above Everton, who occupy 18th. The Yorkshire club recently parted company with Jesse Marsch and appointed former Watford boss Javi Gracia as his successor.

So far, Gracia has taken charge of one Premier League game and it was a crucial 1-0 win against fellow strugglers Southampton. The Spanish coach has now called on his side to show more aggression against Chelsea and he sounds confident his team can produce a shock at Stamford Bridge.

"I think it's important to start very aggressive, to continue very aggressively, and then to finish even more aggressively," Gracia told reporters on Thursday. "To go to Stamford Bridge is always very, very tough but I have that experience.

"Especially with the necessity now that they have to get their points. We have to be very, very focused and prepared for a demanding game."

Leeds have struggled in front of goal this season, with the Whites scoring just 29 times, although that is six more than Chelsea have produced. Leeds failed to score as they crashed out of the FA Cup against Fulham on Wednesday despite having six shots on target and Gracia is aware it's something that his team need to improve for the remainder of the season; starting on Saturday against Chelsea.

"What you have to do is try to finish well," he added. "It's true we have a young team and we have to improve. The only way you can improve is having more chances and live that experience. We have to improve because we need the goals.

"In the last game, we had 16 shots, 12 of them were inside the box. The other team with only six and three in the box but scored two goals. The stats are clear, but football is not stats.

"You have to improve the chances you have and it's something we have to work on. It depends on us. They are good students. They learn very fast. Not only good players, but they have a good attitude. They have commitment and I believe in these players."

Gracia was also asked about the situation at Chelsea and the pressure Potter is under right now. The Leeds boss was very supportive of the former Brighton head coach and described him as "fantastic" at what he does.

"The only way you change the different opinions about you is with results, it's the only way," Gracia said on Potter. "What I can say is my opinion about Graham Potter and my opinion is fantastic. I wish all the best for all the management, of course the next game we try to win."
