Graham Norton halts BBC Eurovision 2023 final with breaking news

The grand final of Eurovision 2023 was halted just minutes into the competition as Graham Norton made an important announcement.

Some 26 nations will compete to be the winner tonight, with the UK's Mae Muller hoping to come out on top with her hit I Wrote A Song. Graham Norton was back to present the singing extravaganza, with co-hosts Alesha Dixon, Hannah Waddingham, and Julia Sanina.

The show was opened with an emotional performance from last year's winner, Ukraine's Kalush Orchestra, while UK's runner-up from 2022 Sam Ryder could be seen performing a guitar solo from the top of the Liver building.

Her Royal Highness Princess Kate could be seen in a blue gown playing some chords on the piano. Afterwards, the hosts were welcomed to Liverpool's M&S Bank Arena, where they introduced the show live on BBC One.

Graham took a look at which countries have been the most successful in the competition. Hannah added that Luxeumbourg have won the fifth most contests despite having not taken part since 1993, before Graham halted the show to make an announcement.

He said: "Hannah! I have breaking news. I have breaking Eurovision news. Luxembourg have announced that they want to re-join next year. I know!"
