Sadistic killer Graham Dwyer was so sure he’d win his appeal that he had already planned a new life abroad.
The sex beast failed on Friday to overturn his conviction for murdering childcare worker Elaine O’Hara – almost eight years to the day after he was found guilty. Cocky Dwyer, 50, had been bragging to inmates at the tough Midlands Prison in Portlaoise of his plans to move abroad and start afresh.
A source told the Mirror how egotistical Dwyer is disliked by other prisoners and will now probably seek a transfer to a Dublin jail. The source said: “He’s so arrogant that he believed, hands down, he would win his appeal.

“He had been telling other prisoners he was going to move abroad and set up a new life as he is too well known in Ireland. He honestly believed that there was no way he wouldn’t win.
“Once the reality kicks in that he won’t be getting out any time soon he will most likely look for a transfer to Arbour Hill.
“That’s where a lot of lifers end up. It’s a lot more laid back. The likes of serial killer John Shaw are housed there.”
Elaine O’Hara’s family were in court on Friday as former architect Dwyer was told all grounds of his appeal were dismissed. Mr Justice George Birmingham delivered the decision of the three-judge court dismissing a claim that call data records should not have been used at his trial.
The source said: “One thing for sure is he won’t be one bit happy about the decision on Friday. He’s writing a book at the moment so no doubt it will be another chapter for him to add to it.”
Much of the evidence at Dwyer’s trial focused on text messages between a “slave” phone used by Ms O’Hara and a “master” phone used by Dwyer. Cork-born Dwyer denied being the person who bought and used a phone found in Vartry Reservoir, Co Wicklow to send messages about stabbing Ms O’Hara.
He denied sending a text telling her to “go down to the shore and wait” on the day she was last seen on August 22, 2012. Dwyer fantasized about stabbing a woman during sex and used Ms O’Hara to fulfil his fantasy, murdering her for his sexual gratification.
After murdering the 36-year-old, he threw some of her belongings into Vartry reservoir and tried to make it look like she had died by suicide. He dumped her body in a forest, where it was found in 2013.
