Graeme Souness has admitted his loyalties are split between Liverpool and Rangers after the two sides were drawn together in the same Champions League group.
Jurgen Klopp's men will face off against the Scottish giants for the first time in European football after the pair pulled out of the hat alongside Ajax and Napoli in Group A.
The two clubs have met in friendly games before, with the most recent in October 2011 when Rangers won 1-0 at Ibrox.

Souness, a Reds and Rangers legend, played and managed both clubs during his career - winning three European Cups with Liverpool before guiding the Scottish side to three titles.
With that in mind, the 69-year-old admitted that he hopes it ends in a draw in both matches when Liverpool clash with Rangers in the group stage.
He told talkSPORT : "You are putting me on the spot here. That's a really difficult one and I'm going to bottle it completely and say I hope it's two draws and both go through!"
Despite being placed in a difficult group, Souness believes that Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side will benefit from their impressive run to the Europa League Final last season.
"They've always got a chance. It's where Rangers have come from in the last 10 years. The level they were playing at and now they are on the biggest stage. It doesn't get any higher," he added.
"It's an enormous step but what you have to say about Rangers is in the last year, they've shown against Dortmund and Leipzig, they are capable of getting results. It's just great to be there. The profile's back, it's not just great for Glasgow Rangers, it's great for Scottish football."
With the World Cup taking place in November and December, the group stage takes place earlier in the season. The first game will take place on September 6/7 with the final group matches on November 1/2.
