Graeme Souness blasts Mikel Arteta 'nonsense' in aftermath of Arsenal latest dressing room leak

Graeme Souness has criticised Mikel Arteta for Arsenal's antics in the changing room in their away win at Fulham last weekend.

The Gunners swept aside their London rivals 3-0 at Craven Cottage as Gabriel, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard all netted first half goals. After the game, the squad posed for a picture in the dressing room holding a replica of the iconic clock from Arsenal’s Clock End at the Emirates.

With the hands pointing at two and 11, fans were quick to speculate the meaning behind it, believing it to mean '11 games 2 go.' On top of that, Arsenal also brought stickers of the club’s crest to put on the walls, with the idea being give the team home comforts on the road.

Clearly it is a strategy that has been working, with Arsenal boasting comfortably the best away record in the league having picked up 34 points from their 14 matches. However, Souness isn't having any of it, stating that is only something a 'winning manager can get away with', while also branding it as 'nonsense'.

He said: "I read the story about Arsenal taking their home comforts into opposition dressing rooms and had to read it again to make sure it wasn’t a joke. Really? Is this what the modern game has become?

"So Arsenal players arrive at Fulham to find their own clock is on the wall along with their own pictures and stickers? It’s extremely strange and only a winning manager can get away with that.

"The Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is doing a fine job but he has form for such nonsense. Last season he had You’ll Never Walk Alone played over the loudspeakers at training to prepare his players for a game at Anfield. They lost 4-0, so that went well for them."
