Ex-Rangers player and manager Graeme Souness traded verbal blows with talkSPORT's Simon Jordan in a debate over Manchester United that left the Scottish international with his head in his hands.
Souness, who spent five years as player-manager at Rangers, has been in media work for the best part of over a decade, becoming one of the UK's best recognised pundits in the process. Often portraying himself much like the character he was in his playing days, the Edinburgh-born star has become renowned for his no-nonsense views and briskness, not backing down from any potential debate. However, alongside talkSPORT regular Simon Jordan, the pair entered a heated debate which saw sparks fly.
Souness argued that Ed Woodward had ruined Manchester United from the inside out, leaving them without a Premier League trophy in what will be a decade should they not win the top-flight title this summer; albeit Jordan argued that Woodward was not to blame, instead believing that Alex Ferguson's maestro was the only reason United hadn't endured a tumultuous period sooner. Yet the nature of the pair - stubborn, to say the least - allowed tensions to rise as neither wished to find a solution.
"I've never said that! It's accepted by most people who are involved or around football and Ed Woodward was in charge," Souness said. "But David Gill who I know, is not a football person by your logic. He's an administrator, so now because you want to give him some lauded and applauded position because Ferguson is your man and Ferguson is a unique manager..." Jordan replied.
"I promised myself I wouldn't speak over you," Souness then said with his head in his hands: "You don't listen to me!"
Jordan replied almost instantly, however, citing: "I don't hear anything that is worth listening to!"
Angrily, Souness upped the tone. "He [Gill] and Fergie were making football decisions. So who was Ed Woodward living on? Well, they got that wrong didn't they! It was generally accepted that then, Ed Woodward was making the footballing decisions at Manchester United."
But Jordan replied with a quick quip. "By who? By people that don't know? By Gary Neville?"
