Graeme Murty in ultimate Rangers throwback as Pep attempts backward headstand

Watching Super Sunday yesterday, it seems Graeme Murty saw the past staring right back at him.

The former Rangers interim manager is remembered for many things in Scottish football.

His commitment and work at Rangers first and foremost. However, a rather strange-looking backwards-roll, headstand sort of thing next to the dugout at Dens Park in 2017 is also up there.

If you look at any funny highlight reel of the best and most bizarre moments of Scottish football, it's in there.

He may feel slightly better about the incident all these years later now though, as the great Pep Guardiola even tried his hand at a similar movement.

As Tottenham scored their late equaliser in the 3-3 draw at the Etihad, the Spaniard hit the deck, ending up upside down as he pushed back on his shoulders.

And Murty was certainly well-reminded about his own headstand by watching.

Taking to X to share a photo of the City boss, he joked: "Feeling his pain."

Previously addressing his acrobatics at Dens Park, Murty said: "As you go backwards, like: 'I'm going to go here. Right, I'm going to turn it into a roll back over and a handstand out', and it didn't work. The worst part of it is, you're mortified because you've done that.

"David McCallum never noticed. So he's next to me. If you look at any of the photos, he's next to me.

"He had no idea that it had happened and I tried to play it off. Obviously everyone got it on camera so as a professional, you're mortified you've done it."

Meanwhile, Michael Stewart has drawn comparisons between Philippe Clement and Cyriel Dessers that show the Rangers manager's treatment of Todd Cantwell is not a one-time thing.

On Thursday night the former Norwich City attacking midfielder was substituted in front of a packed Ibrox crowd in their Europa League fixture against Aris. An unusual sight in football, it came after just 35 minutes.

The Englishman was visibly frustrated with the decision as he took to the dugout.
