Student Union officers have made the decision to cancel tonight's graduation ball following the city centre incident. Due to take place on Tuesday, June 13, the event has been cancelled after three people were killed in Nottingham on Tuesday, June 13.
A man has been arrested after three people were found dead, and a further three people were sent to hospital for treatment after a van reportedly attempted to run them over. Officers from the Union have released a statement following the "tragic" incident.
The Student Union at The University of Nottingham has stated: "We are devastated and shocked by the tragic events that took place last night in the city centre. We stand in solidarity with all our students and the wider city, and our thoughts are with the families and friends of those harmed, alongside those directly and indirectly affected by the unfolding of these terrible events.
"In light of this, we have made the decision to cancel Grad Ball this evening. Attendees will be contacted in due course, but in the meantime, we are continuing to work with the University and relevant authorities to understand the situation.
