Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick created a legacy that will be immortalized in NFL history.
In a near 18-year stretch, the franchise went from winning its very first Super Bowl to tying the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most Lombardi Trophies held by an NFL team. In an ever-changing league, it was one of the greatest dynasties in sports history.
After parting ways with the Patriots back in January, Belichick has had a chance to sit down and reflect on his time with the organization, and he voiced those feelings through a heartfelt letter to fans on Sunday.
“Nowhere in America are pro sports fans as passionate as in New England and for 24 years, I was blessed to feel your passion and power. The Patriots are the only NFL team representing SIX states but in reality, Patriots Nation knows no borders,” Belichick wrote.
“…Six times, you packed Boston by the millions for parades that were truly a two-way expression of gratitude and love. The images from those days are burned in my memory. You may even have enjoyed my fashion sense and press conferences, or maybe you just tolerated them. I loved coaching here and, together, we experienced some amazing moments.”

Belichick will likely sit a year out from coaching with an opportunity to jump back into the mix in 2025, if he chooses to do so. He is 15 wins away from surpassing legendary coach Don Schula as No. 1 on the all-time wins list.
Whatever the future holds for Belichick, the past is etched in stone in New England for the greatest coach of all time.
