NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has retained power in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur, finds itself in a piquant situation in the first two states. Government formation in Goa and Manipur might be relatively easier as respective chief ministers Pramod Sawant and N Biren Singh have won their seats. The defeat of UP deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in the recently-held assembly elections has made the job of the BJP a little difficult in these two states.
The fate of Maurya and Dhami hangs in the balance. It is still not certain whether they would be allowed to continue on their respective posts.
