The Government says it will 'consider all options' for the future of Avanti West Coast's contract as a top Labour politicians has called for the company to be stripped of the deal unless axed services are reinstated.
Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham wrote to Transport Secretary Anne-Marie Trevelyan warning the company’s existing plans for increasing its timetable will cause “two more months of chaos”.
Avanti reduced its timetable from seven trains per hour to just four per hour on August 14. That meant just one train an hour running between Manchester and London, compared with three per hour previously.
