Govan death of woman linked to missing person search in Mugdock Park

Police have launched an extensive missing person search for a man following the death of a woman in Govan on Tuesday afternoon.

The 35-year-old woman was found dead at a property on Jura Street around 8.40am with the death currently being treated as unexplained.

Following her death, a missing person search was sparked with officers carrying out extensive searches of Mugdock Country Park.

The two investigations are being treated as linked but police have said there is no danger to the wider community.

Officers remain on the scene at both locations as investigations are carried out.

Detective Chief Inspector Cheryl Kelly said: “We were made aware of concern for a woman at a property on Jura Street in Glasgow shortly after 8.40am on Tuesday, 25 April.

“Officers attended and the body of a 35-year-old woman was found within.

“Her death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries remain ongoing.

“Officers have been carrying out extensive searches of Mugdock Country Park in relation to a missing person in the area.

“This is being treated as linked to the death at Jura Street and enquiries remain ongoing.

“Our thoughts are very much with everyone affected by this tragic incident.

“There is not believed to be any risk to the wider public but anyone with information or concerns can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 0904 of 25 April.

“A police presence will remain at both locations as enquiries continue and anyone with information is also urged to speak to any of our officers.”
