Gov. Cooper Endorses VP Harris In New TV Ad

U.S. VP Harris travels to South Carolina

Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper recently appeared in a television advertisement endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for president. In the ad, Gov. Cooper highlighted Harris' values and expressed confidence in her ability to assist North Carolina in recovering from the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

Gov. Cooper, who has known Harris for 15 years from their time as fellow attorneys general, praised her as a dedicated fighter who follows through on her promises and prioritizes the needs of the people over politics. He specifically mentioned Harris' commitment to reducing costs, addressing border issues, and aiding in the state's recovery efforts post-Hurricane Helene.

The ad strategically addresses key campaign messages for Harris, emphasizing her background in law enforcement to counter recent criticisms from the GOP regarding crime and immigration. Additionally, it acknowledges the challenges faced by North Carolinians in the wake of Hurricane Helene, a critical issue for the state's residents.

The advertisement began airing in the Raleigh-Durham media market, a significant region in North Carolina that has been a focal point of Harris' campaign efforts throughout October. Democrats have notably outspent Republicans on advertising in the state by approximately $19 million since the start of the month, indicating the importance of North Carolina in the upcoming election.

North Carolina is poised to play a crucial role in the election as a battleground state that holds significance for both Harris and former President Donald Trump. Gov. Cooper, who is term-limited, secured a victory in the state by a margin of just over four points in 2020. In contrast, Trump narrowly won North Carolina by a mere 1.3% in the same year, marking his closest victory margin in any state.
