Gourock Amazon plant closure looks set to have impact on Renfrewshire employees

The Amazon distribution centre that employs people from across Renfrewshire is to close.

The online retail giant confirmed yesterday that its Gourock site in Inverclyde is to shut with a loss of 300 jobs.

Stating its UK operation was being restructured, Amazon said it was starting a 45-day consultation with all staff. It has been described as a “devastating” blow for neighbouring Inverclyde.
