Gosforth High Street welcomes new tapas and cocktail lounge

A new tapas and cocktail venue has opened on Gosforth High Street, looking to provide a "unique" alternative to traditional restaurants in the area.

At the 'High Street Lounge' customers can expect a selection of small plates including sliders, tacos, fajitas, pasta and pizza, as well as an extensive menu of 20 cocktails.

"We are trying to match the vibe you see in other cities like Leeds and Manchester," said manager Emilio Vincenzo Arceri, 29.

"The project has been in the pipeline for a long time, and after Covid-related setbacks, all our staff are really excited to get going. Good things come to those who wait - and this restaurant is definitely something unique for the area.

"Our first week has been a success and we hope the popularity will continue going forward."

The sleek dark décor and artwork create a classy and intimate atmosphere, while resident DJs are on-hand to provide the tunes. And catering to guests is the management team made up of Emilio, Ben Ramsay, Cameron Mcharg and head barman Fernando Sologuren.

Emilio previously managed Fortuna in Gosforth, and has more than 10 years in the hospitality industry, which he says will ensure the new restaurant is a "great success".

Currently the venue is open from Thursday - Sunday, with plans to increase opening times throughout the year.
