Gorka detail distracts BBC Strictly fans as Helen Skelton reveals hilarious 'lie' from her son

Helen Skelton dazzled in the spotlight on Friday night's live Strictly as she performed a red hot routine to Mein Herr from the musical Cabaret for the quarter-final. The Countryfile and former Blue Peter presenter oozed confidence in a black corseted outfit with smokey eye makeup, dark lipstick and with her blonde hair worn slicked back.

"Am I looking at a young lady who has grown from a timid, shy girl in week one to this sensual performance? I've got goosebumps," said head judge Shirley. Fans have seen mum-of-three Helen, 39, go through a transition during her time on the BBC One dance show following her split from husband Richie Myler in April.

Her celeb dance partner Gorka Marquez also donned a black corset and eyeliner for their spectacular dance. "Showed Gorka for what a good partner he is too, he never lets himself take any attention off her, it was all about Helen," commented one fan Ruth Drummond on Twitter.

But fans couldn't keep their eyes off Gorka as the pair sat on the couch for a chat with co-host Claudia Winkleman during Saturday's results show. @AndieDelicacy tweeted: "Haven't been able to concentrate on anything but Gorka tonight. Eyeliner, all in black AND corset."

@coljall praised with a love heart-eyes emoji: "Gorka wearing eyeliner." @kiramadeira commented: "Gorka is so beautiful."

Fans were swooning over Gorka (BBC)

@heypoppyj admitted: "Can’t stop thinking about Gorka with the eyeliner and corset." And @strutcakes said: "Also looking forward to seeing @gorkamarquez1 in guyliner again!"

Helen, who was also joined by fellow semi-finalist Will Mellor and his dance partner Nancy Xu, had her co-stars in stitches as she told a story about her youngest son Louis. "Helen, I love the fact that your little boy Louis when he goes to school I believe he says that Craig and Shirley dropped him off," encouraged Claudia, referring to judge Craig Revel Horwood and head judge Shirley Ballas.

"Yeah he got dropped off in a taxi once and they said 'who's in there?' and he maintained the lie all day that 'Craig and Shirley dropped me off.'" She added: "You don't like to question a five year old do you? So we stuck with it and we went with it. Yeah."
