Gordon Elliott said it was good to see his former star Envoi Allen return to winning ways at Down Royal on Saturday.
The two-time Cheltenham Festival winner for Elliott, who is now trained by Henry de Bromhead, landed the Grade One Ladbrokes Champion Chase under Rachael Blackmore ahead of Kemboy, with the Elliott-trained pair of Conflated and Galvin back in third and fourth respectively.
Despite winning a Grade One over two miles last Christmas, Envoi Allen made hard work of beating inferior rivals on that occasion and was put in his place on his last two outings behind Energumene at Cheltenham and Punchestown.
