Republican Utah Sen. John Curtis requested that the Senate Judiciary Committee subpoena Donald Trump Jr . and Hunter Biden to investigate whether they used family ties for private business gains.
Curtis highlighted a report revealing that Russian oligarch Umar Kremlev, who has close ties to Vladimir Putin, funded a costly Bahamas wedding celebration for Donald Trump Jr.
In response to public outcry, Donald Trump Jr.'s wife defended the event as a generous gift from a friend, while President Trump stated his son would reimburse Kremlev.
Curtis also raised concerns over Donald Trump Jr.'s involvement in family-backed cryptocurrency projects, international real estate deals, and defense contracting investments.
The subpoena request comes as a recent Gallup survey shows a record 89% of Americans believe corruption is widespread within the U.S. government.
