Google Labs is back with another experimental feature called Mixboard. It is an AI-powered concepting board that is said to make brainstorming more visual and interactive. The tool is already available as a public beta in the United States.
It will allow you to explore, expand, and refine ideas through a flexible image and tax-based workspace. The tool gives you an open canvas where you can start a project from a text prompt or choose from preloaded boards.

It also allows you to upload your own images or generate new ones using AI. As expected, Google’s new image editing model, Nano Banana, powers natural language editing, so you can make changes like combining images or tweaking details without juggling with the complex tools. There are also one-click options like “regenerate” or “more like this”, which allow you to quickly create different variations of the same images.
Along with that, the mix board is also capable of generating text based on the context of images on your board, making it easier to build out concepts for projects ranging from home decor and event themes to DIY crafts or new product designs.
However, this is not something new. Google is always experimenting with new tools under Google Labs. For example, recently, the company launched a Windows app that adds a Mac’s Spotlight-like feature bar for Windows PCs.
Though for the mix board, the company has stated that it’s in the early experiment stage, and it aims to make AI-assisted creativity more accessible. If you want to try out Mixboard, you can check that out on the labs.Google/mixboard and join Google’s Discord community to share your feedback and stay updated on future updates.
