Google Chrome users warned never to search for website that could steal your money

Google Chrome users are being warned to never search for a viral item made popular by TikTok as the result could steal your money.

Users are being urged not to perform a search for a scam website which will actually swindle you out of hard-earned cash.

The scam website pretends to sell legitimate Stanley items but will instead deliver nothing - and steal your cash.

The cybersecurity expert team behind Trend Micro, a popular cyber safety and security blog, warned against searching the phrase: "Stanley1913US".

The experts at Trend Micro explained: "Stanley is a legitimate company and its website, Stanley1913.com (no US), sells Stanley vacuum flasks, lunch boxes, coolers, and lots of other products," reports Birmingham Live.

Unfortunately, the website Stanley1913US[.]com is misusing the name of Stanley in an attempt to scam people.

"On ScamAdviser, Stanley1913US[.]com has an abysmal trust score of just 1% — definitive proof that the site is not to be trusted." On ScamAdviser, the website says its low score is down to: the identity of the owner of the website is hidden on WHOIS, the Tranco rank (how much traffic) is rather low, and the website is located in a high risk country.

The age of this site is (very) young. ScamAdviser says: "The trust score of stanley1913us.com is extremely low. This is a strong indicator that the website may be a scam.

"We rated stanley1913us.com using a computer program. The algorithm has scanned the website looking at the source code being used, terms and conditions, registry, location of the company and if the website has received many positive or negative reviews. Scamadviser uses all this information to create a trust score."

Users are being warned not to Google the term - and instead focus their efforts elsewhere. The website has been at the centre of some popular TikTok clips.
