Good Morning Britain viewers were left outraged on Friday when a guest appeared live in the studio.
The daytime ITV show was fronted by Ben Shephard and Charlotte Hawkins, with the two discussing the latest news and topical events. One segment centred around "dangerous levels of pollution" on the UK's seas and rivers.
New rules to permit sewage to be dumped into rivers for 15 more years were voted through by an overwhelming majority of Tory MPs earlier this year.

The hosts were joined in the studio by campaigner Feargal Sharkey, who has previously said we are "slowly killing every single river in the country".
He today told presenters and viewers that he has recently visited Whitstable beach on the Kent coast, and what he found was shocking. He also spoke with local campaigners who are trying to stop organisations from dumping sewage into the sea.
A water sample was tested for E.coli, which gives an "indicator of faeces", which scored 28. He said this indicates it is "high risk, probably unsafe" and added: "You need to get your children or get yourself out of the water".
Feargal continued: "When we started filming that day at 8 o'clock the sewage overflow had just started dumping into the sea and it ran for five hours".
Many viewers watching at home hit out at the fact this is allowed to happen, while praising Feargal for the work he does. Taking to Twitter, Patricia said: "Thank you Feargal so much for getting this out there, it's disgusting, and we deserve so much better!"
Mim said: "Thank you for your incredible persistence in highlighting this countrywide disgrace! I remember Bournemouth beach in the 60’s and sewage in sea sadly we have come full circle", and MJB said: "Feargal Sharkey is a bloody hero".
