Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid thanks Piers Morgan as she celebrates 20 years on TV

Susanna Reid paid tribute to her former co-star Piers Morgan for making her "more argumentative and difficult" as she celebrated 20 years on breakfast TV.

The Good Morning Britain presenter celebrated two decades on morning TV as she thanked her past and present co-workers. Susanna was joined by Ed Balls on Wednesday morning where she praised Piers following his controversial exit from GMB, and her former BBC Breakfast colleague Bill Turnbull.

Susanna, 52, was overcome with emotion as she spoke about her late co-star Bill but also thanked Piers who she worked with for five years before his sensational exit from the show. Speaking on the show, she said: "I started with Bill Turnbull, and it is really a shame not to be able to celebrate with Bill.

"I'd love to be able to text him this morning and talk to him about that. He was absolutely brilliant, but luckily I am surrounded by other brilliant people and so thank you very much for being with me on the journey.

"Obviously, a massive thanks to Ben, who is not here this morning but we started Good Morning Britain together along with you Charlotte of course and Sean as well.

"And just a huge thank you to Piers Morgan of this parish, five years alongside him. He made me bolder, more argumentative, more difficult I think, more probing, asking the tricky questions and going into battle every morning. Slightly different since then but definitely a big thank you to everyone I've presented with over 20 years. Getting up at 3.45 and I'm still here."

This comes after reports surfaced that Piers felt "let down" by Susanna after he exited the show following a stream of complaints regarding his comments about Meghan Markle. Piers left Good Morning Britain after he refused to apologise for his comments about the Duchess of Sussex which sparked outrage.

Following the recent news about Gary Lineker's suspension from Match Of The Day and the support from his co-stars, Piers was asked by a fan if he was disappointed that his colleagues didn't stand by him. He replied: "Would have been nice to see the same solidarity."

"Piers’ tweet was a cheeky dig at Susanna," a source explained to OK!, "He feels not just the TV executives should have been more supportive, but his co-hosts – including Susanna – should have been, too.

"No one came out and backed him, only his family, no one he worked side by side with. He felt let down."
