Good Morning Britain's Richard Madeley came under fire over a question on today's show.
The broadcaster fronted Wednesday's edition of the ITV news programme alongside Susanna Reid. Richard returned to the Good Morning Britain hot seat on yesterday's programme after a long summer break.
The veteran presenter had been away from the show since August 10. Richard and Susanna interviewed Lisa Nandy on today's show after Labour MP Sam Tarry was ousted in a deselection vote.

Richard also quizzed the MP on a range of issues as he asked: "Keir Starmer found great difficulty in defining what a woman is. Can you define what a woman is?"
Ms Nandy responded: "Yes, of course. A woman is an adult female. The law also allows for people to go through a transition process to be recognised as women if they've gone through a transgender recognition process. I think that's a decent balance and a sensible way of proceeding.
"I think it's a much more dignified and humane way to tackle the subject than some of the debate around this has allowed." Viewers following the programme on Twitter took issue with the question.
Rachel commented: "Why is Madeley even asking Nandy “can you define a woman?” #GMB what were you thinking bringing him back?"
Jay said: "I think @GMB need to rethink Madeley. That interview with the ever polite @lisanandy was a farce. People are cold and soon to starve and the questions were inane. Sort it out #GMB or you will lose all remaining credibility."
Diana said: "Richard Madeley asking Lisa Nandy to define a woman, Susanna going on about Sam Tarry being sacked months ago and something about Meghan Markle #GMB @GMB is becoming a farce. People are going to freeze and they’re asking those things?
Richard posted: "Rees-Mogg. Switching over - but will someone ask how much he has made from the pound crashing? Oh dear, on GMB the insufferable Richard Madely asking Lisa Nandy to define ‘What is a woman?!”. Music it is then"
@DOPreston tweeted : What is Richard and Susanna going on about? What an absolutely grim interview with Lisa Nandy"
Rob said: "Madeley was bad, which we expect, but Susanna was bad too. Constantly asking Nandy bizarre bad faith questions that seemed designed to trip her up."
