Ranvir Singh has shared the moment her early ITV career left her in floods of tears in a park with her little boy after brutally finding out she had got the axe.
The Good Morning Britain and Lorraine presenter, 45, is well-known to anyone who tunes into ITV on a morning - but her career hasn't always been so straightforward, after having to overcome a major setback when she first joined the broadcaster. After uprooting her life to make the move from the BBC to ITV, Ranvir was told that her contract had been terminated.
The star began her TV career with BBC North West as a journalist and bulletin presenter in 2005, before going on to become a regular on late night and weekend breakfast shows on BBC Radio 5 Live. Before joining Good Morning Britain in 2014, Ranvir made the jump to ITV - but her stellar career with the broadcaster was almost stopped in its tracks almost as soon as it had begun, The Mirror reports.

Appearing on the Sliding Doors podcast, Ranvir opened up to host Jennie Becker about the heartbreaking moment she thought her TV career was over. After being headhunted by ITV, the presenter left behind a "very secure" BBC job to move across the country - when just over a year later, she was hit with gutting news.
"So I give up this whole secure life at the BBC and my friends and my life in Manchester to move to London, essentially, for a contract," Ranvir explained. "I'm there, 15 months into the job. The programme gets a whole rebrand and I'm not a part of their plans."
The devastated star was left sobbing in a park with her toddler, at a loss as to what she was going to do next, when an ITV veteran stepped in to offer some helpful advice. "There's me crying in a park with my little son and my phone rings and it's John Stapleton - a long-term GMTV presenter," Ranvir revealed.
"He told me not to complain, carry on turning up and to do my job." And sure enough, after getting in touch with ITV News editor Geoff Hill, Ranvir was offered a Saturday presenting gig - before also snapping up a position on a Sunday show just a week later.
Less than two months on, she received a call to present the News at Ten on Fridays. And the rest is history, with Ranvir having been a presenter on Good Morning Britain since its launch in 2014 as well as filling in for Lorraine Kelly on her hit daytime show.
